How to Apply to the Minneapolis Special Teacher Residency

Applications for the Minneapolis Special Education Teacher Residency have now closed.


, the following steps must be completed.

  1. Complete Inquiry Form
  2. Complete Application in Success Factors. Log into the Internal Careers page and search for requisition 46222. To complete your application, you will need:
    1. ‚ÄčA current resume
    2. Your University of St. Thomas Personal Statement. The personal statement form may be found at the bottom of this webpage. Please upload your Personal Statement in place of a cover letter into Success Factors.
    3. The name and email addresses of three references (see reference instructions below)
  3. Submit official transcripts for all institutions that you have attended.
    1. If sending electronically, have them sent to Julie McLeod at julie.mcleod@mpls.k12.mn.us
    2. If you would like to turn in a paper copy, please bring a sealed copy of your transcripts to the Human Resources Department on the fourth floor of the Davis Service Center. HR is open Mondays-Fridays from 8:00 am -  4:30 pm.
  4. Have three references submit Reference Forms on your behalf.
    1. At least one reference must be your current principal or direct supervisor at MPS.
    2. When submitting your application in Success Factors, provide the name and email addresses of three references. Once your application is received your references will be emailed the reference form.
    3. It is your responsibility as a candidate to ensure that your references submit their reference forms by the application due date.

In addition to submitting your application, selected applicants will be invited to participate in an Interview Event in the evening of March 23, 2017. At the Interview Event, candidates will participate in and will be rated on multiple activities by screeners from Minneapolis Public Schools and the University of St. Thomas. Finalists for the program will be selected based on their application materials and ratings from the Interview Event.
