Interested in becoming a teacher? Register to attend the Future Teacher conference!

Minneapolis Public Schools and MCTC are pleased to host the Future Teacher Conference on March 7, 2015.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT HAS ALREADY OCCURRED.

 MARCH 7, 2015: MPS & MCTC host the FUTURE TEACHER CONFERENCE - Held at Minneapolis Community and Technical College in downtown Minneapolis. Over 200 people registered to attend this eent. This free conference featured sessions from many local colleges and universities as well as information about specific licensing areas (such as Special Education or ESL), the life of a teacher and how to identify which license might be the best fit for you. Participating colleges and universities included: MCTC, Metro State, Augsburg and MN State University - Mankato. This event was free, lunch was provided and there was a keynote address. free and lunch is provided. Registration for the conference is now closed. Sessions held during the conference may include topics such as:

  • What does it mean to be a teacher? What are the traits you need to have?
  • How to select an institute of higher education for education program
  • Different philosophies of education and what to ask when selecting a college or university program
  • How to build your resume to get hired by MPS and how to show your commitment to kids over time
  • How to fund your licensure program (financial aid officers, TEACH grants, loan forgiveness)
  • How to select a licensure area: What content area do you need to know, what is the job market, etc. (advisor, counselor)
